The French tenor, Cyrille Dubois, discovered singing at the age of 7 when he joined the Maîtrise de Caen, where as a boy soprano he tackled a wide sacred and secular repertoire and made many recordings. After studying science, he entered Alain Buet's class at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He was also taught there by Anne Le Bozec and Jeff Cohen for the lied and mélodie, and went on to advanced study in master-classes with Helmut Deutsch, Francois Le Roux, Janine Reiss, Dame Ann Murray, and Natalie Dessay.
In 2010, Cyrille Dubois became a member of the opera studio at the Opéra National de Paris. There he appeared in such works as Street Scene (Kurt Weill), L’Heure espagnole, La Resurrezione, and W.A. Mozart'S La finta giardiniera. Since then, he has sung Nathanaël in Les Contes d’Hoffmann for his debut appearances at La Scala, Milan and the Opéra National de Paris, and Azor in La Dispute (Benoît Mernier) at La Monnaie in Brussels.
Cyrille Dubois is also fond of the recital repertoire, which he performs with Tristan Raës, his partner in the Duo Contraste. Together they won a prize at the Lili and Nadia Boulanger Competition and three prizes at the Lyon Chamber Music Competition in 2013 (including First Prize and the Audience Prize). They have been invited to appear at the Palazzetto Bruzane in Venice, the Hermitage Theatre in St Petersburg, the Musée Claude Debussy, the Fondation Royaumont, and Wigmore Hall in London, among others. The duo is currently planning a recording focusing on the composers of the Great War for Hortus Éditions.
Cyrille Dubois has also appeared with Anne Le Bozec, Jeff Cohen, Michel Dalberto, and Nicolas Stavy. His future projects include revivals of the Lyon production of Les Contes d’Hoffmann in Japan, a French tour of Sauguet's Les Caprices de Marianne, Roméo et Juliette at the Opéra de Massy, and La Belle Hélène in Toulon.
His discography features Le Paradis perdu by Théodore Dubois, Sauguet’s Tistou les pouces verts with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Robert Schumann's Missa sacra with Les Cris de Paris, and Sacchini's Renaud with Les Talens Lyriques (Director: Christophe Rousset). |
