The Dutch soprano and singing teacher, Pauline Doolaard, obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Teaching from Hogeschool INHOLLAND (2005-2009). She started her classical singing studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium (Royal Conservatory) in The Hague. During her studies for Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Singing (2010-2015) she was taught by Rita Dams and also in her studies for Master of Arts degree in Classical Singing (2015-2017) also by Sasja Hunnego. At the piano she was coached by Maurice Lammerts van Bueren. She attended classes and master-classes with Dorothee Mields, Nelly Miricioiu, Jard van Nes, Peter Kooy, Johannette Zomer, Marcel Reijans, Meinard Kraak, Han Louis Meijer and Andrew Schröder, among others. In September 2013, she was in the semi-final of the Doorwerth Singing Competition.

Mozart (Requiem & Krönungsmesse), Gabriel Fauré (Requiem), Rossini (Petite Messe Solennelle), Antonio Vivaldi (Gloria), Felix Mendelssohn (Hör mein Bitten) and H. Andriessen (Miroir de Peine). Pauline Doolaard is a versatile singer, with a warm, clear and supple voice. Her interest in music styles is wide and ranges from early music to contemporary music. She has a special connection with J.S. Bach, in whose passions and cantatas her voice really comes into her own. Although oratorio is perhaps her greatest love - or at least her first - she also likes to perform songs by composers such as Robert Schumann, R. Strauss, Debussy and Sergei Rachmaninov. She has sung contemporary works with, among others, The Orchestra of the 21st Century (Daugherty), Asko | Schönberg (Louis Andriessen), Slagwerk Den Haag (Reich) and Orkest de Ereprijs.
In addition to solo singing, Pauline Doolaard has a great love for ensemble singing, especially in choirs. She sang in various choirs, such as the Dutch National Opera Academy, Groot Omroepkoor (since 2016), Chamber Choir of Europe (2012), and Nederlands Studenten Kamerkoor (2010-2012). She is currently active as a choir singer in the Laurens Collegium Rotterdam (Director: Wiecher Mandemaker; since 2014), who collaborates with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and Residentie Orkest Den Haag. As a choir singer she sang under conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Nathalie Stutzmann, Ton Koopman, Jan Willem de Vriend, Martyn Brabbins, Marcus Creed, Markus Stenz and Giancarlo Andretta.
In addition to her work as a solo and choir singer, Pauline Doolaard enjoys giving singing lessons in her teaching practice to both young people and adults (since 2012). |
