The American basritone, Scott Dispensa, is a graduate of Westminster Choir College and The Juilliard School. As a student at Westminster, he was a member of the acclaimed Westminster Choir, participating for three consecutive seasons in the chorus of Spoleto Festival USA. At The Juilliard School, he appeared as Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus with Juilliard Opera Theatre, and made his Alice Tully Hall debut in the annual Juilliard Vocal Honors Recital.
Equally at home in musical theatre as in opera, Scott Dispensa made his Weill Recital Hall debut in 2005 as part of a benefit concert honoring Hal Prince sponsored by the New York Festival of Song. In recent seasons, he has toured with Glimmerglass Opera, appeared as Tommy in Brigadoon with Arizona Broadway Theatre, and performed extensively with a wide range of vocal ensembles including Clarion Music Society, Early Music New York, and Vox Vocal Ensemble. In fall, 2008 he made his Metropolitan Opera debut in the chorus of Prokofiev's War and Peace.
Scott Dispensa is a multi-faceted baritone, who makes his home in New York City where he performs a wide range of music, from Baroque to Broadway.A popular J.S. Bach soloist on the NYC Baroque scene, he has performed the St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244), Mass in B Minor (BWV 232) and many other works. He is also the founder & baritone of the male vocal quartet, New York Polyphony. Participating musicians include violinist Robert Mealy, singers Jolle Greenleaf, Kirsten Sollek, Scott Dispensa, and many of New York's finest musicians of this repertoire. He is a member of the Saint Thomas Choir of Men & Boys, and has also sung several times with The Tiffany Consort. |
