Jeannette van Dijck (Soprano)

Born: January 29, 1925 - Utrecht, the Netherlands
Died: May 3, 2009 - Baarn, the Netherlands

The Dutch soprano, Jeannette van Dijck, studied singing with Johanna Zegers de Beijl in the Hague and took her career in the early 1950's at the Netherlands Opera in Amsterdam. In 1952 she was winner at the International Singing Competition in Geneva.

After singing initially smaller roles, Jeannette van Dijck launched her career in Amsterdam as Butterfly, as Liu in Turandot, as Susanna in Marriage of Figaro, as Despina in Così fan tutte, in the contemporary opera Philomele by Hendricus Franciscus Andriessen, and could be heard in similar roles. She had a significant career as a concert and oratorio soprano in Holland as well as in West Germany, where she appeared often on radio in Cologne. She appeared as a guest also at the Cologne Opera. She lived in the Hague.
