The German counter-tenor, Joachim Diessner von Isensee, began his musical education with piano and organ lessons. After completing secondary school, he first studied theology, singing lessons with Alastair Thompson, later studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, then with Professor Phillip Langshaw in Cologne. Participation in several master-classes u.a. Jessica Cash, also regular lessons the counter-tenors with Drew Minter and Michael Chance.
As a member of several ensembles Joachim Diessner participated in radio (SWF and ORF) and LP and CD recordings under Hermann Max, Sigiswald Kuijken, Jordi Savall and Frieder Bernius. He performed at the opera houses in Münster, Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Constance, as well as at the Kampnagel-Theater in Hamburg and the Markgräflichen Opernhaus in Bayreuth. His roles included u.a. the title role in Pietro Torri's opera Amadis, Hercules in George Frideric Handel's The Choice of Hercules, Bacchus in Arianna by Monteverdi / Goehr and the title role in Offenbach's La Grande-Duchesse de Gerolstein. In addition, he is a regular guest at various renowned festivals in Germany and abroad, including 6 years in a row at the Styriarte Graz, Berliner Festwochen, Heidelberger Bachwoche, the Händel-Festival in Halle in Halle and the Early Music Festival in Varaszdin. Recent productions took him to the Brandenburger Opernhaus, where he also took over the planning and organization of the Tage für Alte Musik in 2000 as artistic director. Numerous radio and CD recordings also document his work.
Joachim Diessner works at Evangelischer Kirchenverband Köln und Region since November 2001, and is Director of Ehrenfelder Abendmusiken. He currently lives in Cologne, Germany. |
