The Canadian mezzo-soprano, Avanti Dey, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Queen's University (2007-2011); her Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis (2011-2013); and he Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Psychology rom Washington University in St. Louis (2013-2016). After her studies, she has been Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Columbia University in the City of New York (October 2016-Octtober 2017); Postdoctoral Scientist at the University of Texas at Dallas (November 2017-July 2020); Associate Editor for The POSTDOCket at Postdoctoral Association (November 2018-May 2021); Editor at Accdon, LLC (Publishing services) (since January 2020); Associate Editor at Public Library of Science (PLOS) (since November 2020).
Avanti Dey made her Comet Opera debut as Dorabella in W.A. Mozart's Così Fan Tutte (November-December 2018) and performed with them also the roles of Bradamante in George Frideric Handel's Alcina (April 2019), and Vitellia in W.A. Mozart's La clemenza di Tito (December 2019). Outside Comet Opera, her repertoire includes Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Violetta in La Traviata, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, Gertrude in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, and the musical theatre roles of Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, Lady Beaconsfield in Jekyll & Hyde, and Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors. She also has extensive choral experience, singing with the St Louis Symphony Chorus and the Women’s Chorus of Dallas. |
