The French mezzo-soprano, Julia Deit-Ferrand, obtainer her Masters in Sociology and studied voice in Lausanne (with Jeanne-Michèle Charbonnet). She was finalist at Kattenburg Competition of Opéra de Lausanne (2017).
Julia Deit-Ferrand has already forged and impressive and eclectic stage career. Her recent performances include the major role of the Mezzo in Péter Eötvös’ The Golden Dragon (January-February 2022) and the title-role in a reduced production of La Cenerentola (December 2019), both for the Grand Théâtre de Genève, as well as Cherubino W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and Berta Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Opéra de Fribourg, the roles of Dwarf/Animal in Marius-Felix Lange’s Snow White, and Chérubin in the new work Sholololo ! with Opéra Louise. A versatile and talented actress, she has also starred in major music theatre roles, including Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Fantine in Les Misérables and Hattie in Kiss Me Kate and, more recently, Brigitte de San Lucarin in Le domino noir at the Opéra de Lausanne (March 2023), Bianca in Rosa et Bianca at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, and also in a production based on Fontaine’s Fables with the Orchestre Pau Pays de Béarn.
Julia Deit-Ferrand appears regularly with the Orchestre Pau Pays de Béarn, Ensemble Contrechamps, Orchestre Sinfonietta, and Orchestre de Chambre Fribourgeois, alongside conductors such as Leonardo García-Alarcón, Pierre Bleuse, John Fiore, Gabriella Teychenné, Fayçal Karoui, Margaux Blanchard and Sebastiano Rolli. In recital, she has sung at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, the Château de Versailles, at Nouvel Opéra Fribourg and the Grand Théâtre de Genève. She has also recently appeared in concert with pianist Anne Le Bozec, organist Benjamin Righetti and pianist Eric Cerantola.
A contemporary music prize-winner at the Kattenburg Competition in Lausanne, Julia Deit-Ferrand has a strong interest in multi-genre and new repertoire, and is an accomplished dancer. She also develops her own projects, including electro-synth works such as Kéfir kéfir, a piece for voice and synthesizer, drawn from traditional Turkish and Greek melodies. And, to add to her already impressive credentials, she has recently been awarded the 2022 ADAMI scholarship.
Julia Deit-Ferrand just made her debut at the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg for Simon Steen-Andersen’s Don Giovanni aux enfers (September 2023, world premiere); future plans include Une flûte enchantée (Papagena, 3rd Lady), a young audience version of W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Opéra d’Avignon, Dorothée in Cendrillon (Massenet) at the Opéra de Lausanne (April 2024), Bianca in Rosa et Bianca, show for young audience after Donizetti at the Grand Théâtre de Genève and Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro. |
