The American soprano, Samantha Dearborn, studied Voice & Music Pedagogy at the Zoltán Kodály Institute of Music in Kecskemét, Hungary (2008). She received a Bachelor of Music degree with honors (Magna Cum Laude) in Vocal Performance from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio (2006-2010); and her Master of Music degree in Voice (2013) and Graduate Performance diploma in Voice (2014) from The Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She has participated in master-classes with Martin Katz, James Maddalena, David Kravitz, Ryan Turner, and Adrienne Csengery.
Praised for her agile high notes and sensitive treatment of text, Samantha Dearborn has performed on stages in the USA and in Europe, appearing as both featured and guest soloist. As an apprentice at the Nahant Music Festival in 2014 and 2015, she premiered the role of Queen Eleanor in Francine Trester’s Sleeping Beauty (2015) and performed J.S. Bach's solos with the Emmanuel Music Orchestra (2014). Other performance credits include soprano soloist in Luigi Boccherini’s Gloria, Norina (cover, Old North Church, 2015) in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale (Opera del West, 2016), Lola in Douglas Moore’s Gallantry (Nahant Music Festival, 2014), Célie in Thomas Pasatieri’s Signor Deluso (Longy School of Music, 2014), and performances at the Kecskemét Art Festival in Kecskemét, Hungary (2013).
With a repertoire spanning from the Baroque era to the 21st century Samantha Dearborn is a proponent of contemporary classical music and has premiered works by composers throughout Ohio and the Greater Boston area.
