The Romanian tenor, Tamás Daróczi, studied music in Cluj, where he graduated in 1980.
Tamás Daróczi made his debut in the same year on the stage of the Cluj State Opera House in the role of Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly. He first came to Budapest in 1983, when he sang the role of Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana at the Erkel Theatre. He has appeared as a guest singer in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Israel. He is a permanent guest singer at the Komische Oper in Berlin, where he sang the role of the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto directed by Harry Kupfer. He has been a member of the Hungarian State Opera since 1988, his repertoire ranges from Mozart (Belomonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte) and Verdi (Oronte in I Lombardi, the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, Alfredo in La traviata) to Puccini (Cavaradossi in Tosca). In the past few years he has sung character roles too. |
