The Swiss tenor, Laurent Dami, first came to music through guitar and basson. He then studied conducting and singing at Conservatoire de Musique de Genève, where he obtained a virtuosity prize in 1993 in the class of Eric Tappy. He is also holder of a PhD in Computer Science and pursues a professional carreer in that area; however this does not refrain him from participating in numerous oratorio concerts in Switzerland and abroad.
Laurent Dami collaborated with most choir conductors in Suisse Romande, mostly in a baroque or classic repertoire (Monteverdi, Heinrich Schütz, Purcell, J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, Haydn, Mozart). Nevertheless he also performs romantic repertoire (Schubert, Robert Schumann, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle), and works from the 20th century like Renard or Les Noces by Igor Stravinsky and Golgotha by Frank Martin. On stage, he had numerous collaborations with the Opéra de Chambre de Genève (Leonard Bernstein: Trouble in Tahiti; Alessandro Scarlatti: Il Trionfo dell'Onore; Grétry: Zémire et Azor; Rossini: La Scala di Seta; Haydn: L'infedelta delusa). He also played on tour the roles of tenor solo in Purcell's King Arthur, Toni in Elegy for Young Lovers (Henze) and Belmonte in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail. |
