In 1978, the cellist and conductor Johannes Goritzki founded the Deutsche Kammerakademie (= DKA); since then, the group acquired a versatile repertoire ranging from Baroque through contemporary music. It played numerous first performances; some of the new works, like Isang Yuns, were dedicated to the orchestra. Since 1983, the city of Neuss am Rhein has sponsored the Deutsche Kammerakademie; It Is also generously supported by the Stadtsparkasse Neuss as well as the Nissan Motor Deutschland GmbH.
The festival "Muslkalischer Frühling Neuss”, founded by Johannes Goritzki takes place annually, to which are invited friends of the orchestra, artists like Frank Peter Zimmermann, Bruno Giuranna, Aurèle Nicolet, Yehudi Menuhin, Nikita Magaloff and Radu Lupu. In 1992, the group agreed upon a continuous co-operation with the soloists of the Stuttgarter Bläserakademie - Including artists like Radovan Vlatkovic (horn), Ulf Rodenhäuser (clarinet), Ingo Goritzki (oboe) and Sergio Azzolini (bassoon).
The orchestra went on tours throughout the world, to Rome, Parts, Buenos Aires as well as to the large cities of S.E. Asia, China and Japan. In Germany, the ensemble performed in most of the great concert halls. It has been celebrated for its uniquely vivid playing style at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest or at the Berliner Festwochen. It was invited to Gstaad by Yehudi Menuhin, to Lockenhaus by Gidon Kremer and to the Schleswig-Holstein-Musikfestival by Justus Frantz. During the fall of 1993, the Deutsche Kammerakademie went on a vaste tour with Krzysztof Penderecki through Switzerland and Austria; during the fall of 1994, they gave 3 concerts In Sydney.

They recorded L.v. Beethoven's 1. and 4. symphony as well as the complete symphonies of Luigi Boccherini, of which the recordings went on from 1991 through the anniversary year of 1993. Their recording of Carl Heinrich Graun's opera Montezuma (the libretto was written by Frederic the Great) was generally acclaimed. With this latter piece the Deutsche Kammerakademie appeared as guests at the opera of Mexico City and in other cities of Latin America on the occasion of the year of Columbus. |
