The Ameriocan soprano, Nancy Curtis, is an honors graduate from Baylor University. She has studied at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan, Italy, the Dante Alghieri School in Florence, Italy and the Goethe Institute in Rothenburg, Germany. She is a winner of the prestigious Enrico Caruso International Vocal Competition,
Nancy Curtis enjoys a multifaceted career as a singer of opera, oratorio, symphonic repertoire, and recitals. Nancy's commitment to her artistry has drawn praise from colleagues, audiences, and critics alike, and she is in demand as a vocalist and teacher. Hailed as a "stand-out", she has been presented as the soprano soloist with many outstanding symphony orchestras including the Austin Symphony, Maryland Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Arkansas Symphony, Santa Fe Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, Abilene Philharmonic, Tulsa Philharmonic and Ballet as well as the Houston Masterworks Chorus, Victoria Bach Festival, Midland-Odessa Symphony, Early Music Southwest, Houston Choral Society, Mercury Baroque Ensemble, Ars Lyrica Houston, Kingwood Chorale and Orchestra and the International Festival Institute at Round Top.
This highly versatile singer also enjoys an active opera career. She has been featured with opera companies including the Virginia Opera, Tulsa Opera, New York City Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Skylight Opera Theatre, Tacoma Opera, American Festival for the Arts, Opera Rimini, Monteux Opera Festival, St. Cecilia Chamber Society Opera Series, and Lyric Opera of San Antonio.
Nancy Curtis was invited to sing concerts in Italy including an appearance at La Scala. She has been invited to sing for many of our nation's leaders including former Presidents George Bush, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, and Texas Governor Rick Perry. She has also had the privilege of singing the American National Anthem for the Houston Texans, Houston Rockets, Houston Marathon, Woodlands Marathon and Sam Houston Race Park, and was recently honored to sing for the national commissioning of the USS Texas featuring former First Lady, Laura Bush.
Nancy Curtis is also an active member of Conspirare, the Grammy nominated and internationally acclaimed choral group based in Austin, Texas. As a member of this outstanding ensemble, Nancy has been featured on a nationally televised PBS special as well as internationally released recordings on the Harmonia Mundi label.
Upcoming performances include the musical title role of Camille Claudel with the Dominic Walsh Dance Company at the Joyce Theater in New York City, guest soprano in a master-class with the renowned Handel specialist Dr. Michael Lloyd, a concert with the "Three Sopranos" for The Living Bank, the soprano soloist in George Frideric Handel's Messiah with the Kingwood Chorale and Orchestra, soprano soloist in W.A. Mozart's Requiem with the St. John's Chorale and Chamber Orchestra, guest concerts throughout Croatia.
