José Cuartas (Baritone)

Born: October 16, 1991 - Jackson Heights, Queens, New York, USA

The Colombian-American baritone, José Cuartas, attended the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts (2005-2009); and studied Voice/Music at Manhattan School of Music (2009-2010). He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Mannes School of Music (2010-2014); and his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Mannes School of Music (September 2014-May 2016). He is a regional winner of the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts (NFAA) in 2009 and was a participant in IVAI’s programs in Israel in 2010 and Virginia in 2014.

José Cuartas has been Bass Section Leader at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church (2008-2010); Bass Singer at Calvary-St. George's Church in New York City (2016-2018); Baritone Singer at Plymouth Church School (since 2018); Apprentice Artist at Sarasota Opera (since August 2019). As part of the Collegiate Chorale, he has attended the Verbier and Salzburg Festivals alongside the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In summer 2014, he sang the role of Bartolo in Paisiello’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Dell’Arte Opera Ensemble.
