The American mezzo-soprano, Amalia Crevani, graduated from the Juilliard Pre-College (teacher-Lorraine Nubar). While attending Juilliard, she premiered The Concert Review, an original composition by Dr. Andrew Thomas (Juilliard) and was the recipient of the Juilliard PreCollege Commencement Award. She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance Summa Cum Laude and Theatre (double major) from DePauw University (May 2021) where she studied with Kerry Jennings (former student of Caroline Smith). She currently studies for her Master of Music degree at Yale University (expected graduation: 2023).
Amalia Crevani has already distinguished herself as a singer and performing in lead roles and by winning multiple awards both at the university and beyond. Her roles at DePauw include Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Hamlet Hamlet Mostly, La Fée in Cendrillon, the dancing nun in Sister Act, Margaret in DePauw One-Acts Online Classes, Phoebe in A Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder, Player #46 in The Wolves, Rosemary in Brainpeople, and Fairy in Sleeping Beauty.In March 2022, she performed the role of Morgana in the Yale Opera production of George Frideric Handel's Alcina.
Amalia Crevani was also awarded the Meghan Parker Memorial Prize 2018 for Outstanding 1st year vocalist, the Elaine Shower Scholarship Award, and was the winner of the University Concerto Competition. Outside of DePauw, she recently won the Metropolitan Opera Encouragement Award and 2nd place at NOA (National Opera Association) conference in Cleveland, Ohio in the Collegiate Opera Scenes Competition. She was the winner of the Classical Singer Online Competition and The Manhattan International Competition for which she performed at the winner concert in Carnegie Hall. She was a finalist in the Classical Singer Competition in Chicago for Music Theatre. She has won numerous competitions, such as 1st at Indiana NATS for both the Musical Theatre and Classical divisions for 3 consecutive years (since 2017), 1st The American Prize- Women in Art Song (2017-2018), 1st place NY Lyric Opera (HS Div 2017), 1st Great Composers Competition Series 2017 for Rossini and Debussy, 2nd for Schumann, 2nd Artist of the Year with Artistry Accolade, 2nd Rising Talent of the Americas, Paper Mill Playhouse Honorable Mention 2015 (Best Actress in leading role as Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes) and Nominee for the Rising Star Award 2017 (Best Actress in leading role as Judy Bernly in 9 to 5), 1st Rondo Vanguard 2016 (performance Carnegie Hall), two time 3rd place winner for the Schmidt Vocal Competition, and 1st for Hal Leonard Music Theatre 2015 and Finalist for Classical.
During the summers, Amalia Crevani has studied with the Paper Mill Playhouse Summer Conservatory, at the Academie International d’Ete de Nice in France (2016-Lorraine Nubar & Dalton Baldwin), at Palazzo Ricci in Montepulciano, Italy (2018-Claudia Visca/2019- Edda Moser), at Casentino Voice with Valerie Girard, in NYC with NY Lyric Opera Theatre 2018, portraying the roles of Gretel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel (National Opera Center) and as Manon in the Love Passion and Betrayal and Musical Potpourri concerts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. She has performed in multiple Master-classes with Sutton Foster, Laura Bell Bunday, Alice Ripley, Zahava Gal and Peter Randsman. In summer 2018, she studied at Aspen Music Festival with Renée Fleming and Patrick Summers. |
