The English conductor and composer, Ronald Corp, has worked as choral director with Finchley Children's Music Group, the London Choral Society (since 1985) and Highgate Choral Society. In 1988 he founded the New London Orchestra and has since been its Artistic Director.
Ronald Corp works regularly with the BBC Singers and has conducted various orchestras including the BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Leipzig Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a regular guest in BBC broadcasts. He celebrated the Martinu centenary 1990 with concerts given by the New London Orchestra. He made his Promenade Concerts debut in 1990, with Noyes Fludde by Benjamin Britten. He conducted the children's chorus in the British premiere of Wolfgang Rihm's Dies, at Festival Hall in 1991.
Ronald Corp has recorded extensively for Hyperion, including award-winning discs of British Light Music Classics as well as discs devoted to the music of Prokofiev, Satie, Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, Virgil Thomson and the Polish composer, Grażyna Bacewicz.
The list of his own compositions is extensive and includes choral, instrumental and orchestral works (including many published by Novello, and unpublished cantata, And all the Trumpets Sounded, 1989). Recent performances include the première of the String Quartet No. 2 in Canterbury in the summer of 2010.
Many of his works are now on CD, including: A Christmas Mass (on the EMI disc, Hark! Chantage at Christmas); Flower Songs and other children’s choir works (with the New London Children's Choir on the Naxos disc, Pigs Might Fly); Forever Child and other choral music (with Voces Cantablles on Dutton Epoch) - which was released to great critical acclaim in 2006; Symphony No. 1, Piano Concerto No. 1, Guernsey Postcards (with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra on Dutton Epoch); The Songs of Ronald Corp (song-cycles and individual songs in première recordings on Stone Records); For release in 2011 are the Maggini Quartet's rendition of String Quartets Nos. 1 and 2 alongside the song-cycle, Country Matters in March; Dhammapada sung by Apsara on 17th January; and The Ice Mountain sung by the New London Children's Chorus.
