The French-born soprano, Nathalie Colas Grant, obtained her Bachelor of Music degre in Voice and Opera from Depaul University School of Music (2003-2007); her Master of Music degree in Voice and Opera / Baroque Chamber Music from Koninklijke Conservatorium Brussels (2007-2009); and completed her opera training at the Swiss Opera Studio/Hochschule der Kunst Bern, Switzerland (2009-2011).
Hailed for her “floating, silky” “luminous soprano” and deemed “a standout in acting and voice” as well as “hypnotic (Chicago Classical Review), Nathalie Colas is a versatile and curious musician, artist, producer and music advocate. She is a current soloist and founder of Third Coast Baroque (since June 2016), Liederstube, and new music ensemble Fonema Consort (since January 2012). She has sung with Haymarket Opera, the St Louis Bach Society and Aestas Consort in recent seasons. She is an active chorister singing with the Chicago Symphony Chorus, the Grant Park Chorus, and Music of the Baroque.
As a concert soloist, Nathalie Colas was recently heard in Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 4 with the Symphony of Oak Park & River Forest, in J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) with Chicago Choral Artists, and in the title role of Rita by G. Donizetti in Switzerland. An avid recitalist, she studied art song with the late German baritone Udo Reinemann and regularly performs such repertoire (Symphony Center, Pianoforte Foundation, Chicago Arts Club, Driehaus Museum).
Nathalie Colas is a passionate educator who teaches voice at Concordia University Chicago in Oak Park (since 2017) and Triton College in River Forest, where she also serves as director of Choral Activities (since 2016). She currently lives in Chicago, Illinois. |
