Anna Christofaro (Soprano)

Born: Plymouth, Minnesota, USA

The American soprano, Anna Christofaro, studied at Wayzata High School in Minneapolis (Class of 2007). She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota (2007-2011) and her Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University of North Texas in Denton (2013-2015). She also spent a summer at the Weimar Bach Academy under the direction of Helmuth Rilling. She has studied with Jean Del Santo, Carol Wilson, Janis Hardy and Geneva Eschweiler. In 2011 and 2007, Anna won first place in the Thursday Musical Young Artist Competition. In addition, she won first place in the Minnesota State NATS Competition in 2007 and won second place in 2006.

Anna Christofaro performs as a freelance soprano since September 2012. She has been recognized for her vocal agility and natural stage presence. She recently appeared as the soprano soloist in Benjamin Britten's Return of the Lamb, Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610, George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria, W.A. Mozart's Regina Coeli, J.S. Bach's Singet dem herrn and J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 51, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen. Her operatic appearances include the role of 1st Lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Serpina in Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's La Serva Perdona, Zerlina in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Gianetta in The Gondoliers and Nella in Gianni Schicchi. Other productions include W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Suor Angelica, L'enfant et les sortilèges and Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, and Trial By Jury. She and worked with conductors, Jerry McCoy, Craig Hella Johnson, David Childs, Kathy Saltzman Romey, Brian A. Schmidt, Richard Sparks and Anton Armstrong.

Anna Christofaro sings with the Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble, Conspirare, based in Austin, Texas, (since April 2015), as well as The Rose Ensemble in St. Paul (since September 2016), Consortium Carissimi in St. Paul, Oratory Bach Ensemble in Minneapolis, Vox Humana in Dallas, South Dakota Chorale (since January 2016), Minnesota Chorale and the Vocal Essence Ensemble Singers. She also has performed with the University of North Texas A Cappella Choir and Collegium Singers as well as toured with the St. Olaf Choir.

Currently, Anna Christofaro resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She works as a private voice instructor since August 2015.
