The German-born soprano, Hayat Chaoui, daughter of Moroccan immigrants, received her first music training in the choruses of the Hessian radio where she sang solos from her young age. She began studying French and English at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (1996/95-2003/04) and made parallel training as a chorister. Her voice drew the attention of Professor Barbara Schlick, who invited her in 2002 to study at the Hochschule für Musik Köln, Standort Wuppertal, where she obtained the degrees in vocal pedagogy (February 2007) and art education (February 2008). With the ensembles ACHTung Vokal and Cantosphäre, she was the holder of the scholarship from the Richard Wagner Verband (2006) and won several times the first prize of "Young Musicians" and the second prize in the German choral competition 2010.
Hayat Chaoui is very active in oratorio and focuses particularly on the interpretation of early music. She has worked together with the renowned Ensemble Accentus Austria (Austria), singing at the Kölner Akademie, in Ensemble Ad Mosam (the Netherlands) in the Kölner Kammerchor. In 2008 she was an ensemble member of the Graubündner Festival Cultural Origen. Since 2008, she was invited to the permanent formation of international jazz Ufermann. She attended courses and master-classes with Barbara Schlick, Ulf Bästlein, Arthur Janzen, Sissel Hoyem Aune and Annette Kleine. She has performed in concerts Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands. In 2008, she founded the ensemble O là là with which she gives concerts in Wuppertal and the region successfully, in addition to concerts in several European countries. In the 2007-2008 season, she was invited to perform as a guest the main role in the children's opera of Wuppertal.
In 2010, Hayat Chaoui had her concert exam with Profesoor Barbara Schlick, and she currently teaches as a lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. In 2012, she was invited as a partner teacher in South Tyrol and Venezuela. |
