The American baritone, Bruce Canterbury, graduated from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey as a Music Education major with a principle in voice.
Bruce Canterbury has performed as a baritone soloist for many years. He taught elementary school music at St. Patrick’s School in Portland and in Harpswell, Maine. He held the position of Bass Section Leader at Woodfords Congregational Church in Portland for 22 years where he performed solos, gave recitals, acted as substitute choir director and directed summer choirs. He moved to Portland in 1988. He joined St Mary Schola (Director: Bruce Fithian) in 2012.
Bruce Canterbury e has worked in insurance for over 30 years in various positions. He began working at UNUM in 1999. In his spare time he sails on Casco Bay and at his camp in the Damariscotta area. He plays a lot of golf, assembles plastic ship and train models and does occasional woodworking. He took up windsurfing in 1981 and continues to do this as much as possible. He recently took up stand up paddle boarding so he could get on the water when he is “skunked” by the wind! He lives in Portland and enjoys his free time with his wife Lorraine and family members: Julie, David, and Tara. |
