Camerata München (Chamber Orchestra)

Founded: 1998 - Munich, Germany

In the autumn of the 1998 on initiative the Münchner Streichervirtuosen was founded, and was engaged under the direction of the conductor Bernhard Koch in the concerts of the Jungen Münchner Symphoniker. On December 1998 the ensemble introduced itself for the first time to the Munich's public with extreme success, and found immediately inspired admission. High point of the debut concert was surely the performance of Bach's Violin Concerto in E major by Sréten Kristic (1st concert-master of the of the Münchner Philharmoniker) and Camerata München.

Under the artistic direction of Bernhard Koch, the Camerata München could be established firmly in the music life of Munich. The repertoire of the ensemble extends from the masters of the late Renaissance such as Dowland and Purcell over the Bach family and Mozart up to classical works of Felix Mendelssohn.

The ensemble concentrated regularly in the Munich's Markuskirche, in the large hall of the Musikhochschule and, as special high point of its work, with festive Baroque music at the Sommerserenaden in the Brunnenhof der Residenz. The ensemble appears also at Serenaden-Veranstaltungen in Nymphenburger Schlossgarten, at Blutenbur, at Oberschleißheim and at the Theatron-Festival in the Münchner Olympiage.

The ensemble, which regularly consists of soloists of the Bayerischen Staatsorchester, Münchener Kammerorchester, as well as the Staatstheaters at the Gärtnerplatz, concentrated in the virtuoso concertos of the Baroque music often with renowned orchastra soloists, such as Sréten Kristic, Henrik Wiese (1st solo flutist of the Bayerisches Staatsorchester) and Christoph Hartmann (Oboist of the Berliner Philharmoniker).

Beyond that Camerata München prsents regularly high-talented young soloists of Munich's music scene, such as Franziska Pertler - violin and prize-winner of 'Jugend musiziert, Saskia Hein - violin, or Antonio Hölzl - baroque flute.
