Orquestra de Cambra Gonçal Comellas (Chamber Orchestra Gonçal Comellas) was founded in 1993 under the leadership of its director, Gonçal Comellas, and a group of young and excellent professionals who have already probedd themselves in other ensemble and orchestras, and wanted to give Catalonia a chamber orchestra of high artistic level.
At this (2004) time the orchestra has given numerous concerts in various regions, being very frequent their performances in the Palau de la Música de Barcelona. In 1994 the orchestra toured the south of Germany performing in different cities, including Stuttgart and Munich, and was a great success with audiences and critics, describing the band as "one of the best in the Iberian Peninsula .... flawless technical virtuosity and exciting concert ..... "etc.
The orchestra has performed with major soloists such as Josep Colom, Boris Belkin, J.P.Rampal, Claudi Arimany, Antoni Besses, etc.; on the other hand, is committed to to promoting the career of young talented soloists, some of whom have already reached succees, including: Alvaro Fernandez, cellist and Alba Ventura pianist.
The Orchestras has made numerous radio and television recordings. The recorded a CD on Guido amb label with music by Catalan composers. |
