The Children's Choir of the Royal Danish Academy of Music (= CCRDAM) was founded in 1978 by Margrete Enevold, with the purpose of being a practise choir for future conductors and teachers. Today the Choir is conducted by Bente Colding-Jørgensen.
Since 1978 the Children's Choir of the Royal Danish Academy of Music has developed into a well regarded concert choir. In 1995, invited by the Danish Radio, the choir ended no. 3 in the international competition Let the Peoples sing.
The Children's Choir has had numerous performances in radio and TV, and has performed all over Denmark as well as the rest of the world - Norway, Sweden, Scotland, Germany, USA, Israel, Argentina, Brazil, Greenland and - in 1997 - Austria. The Children's Choir of the Royal Danish Academy of Music consists of about 60 talented children, aged 10 to 16, coming from the Copenhagen area. It is accompanied by the organist and composer, Jakob Lorentzen. Aspiring to the Choir is a "Little Choir" of younger children, aged 7-10.
The Choir has recorded 4 Compact Discs; Three CDs with church music and one with music from the South America tour of 1994.
Victor Borge was the patron of the Children's Choir until his death, December 23, 2000. |
