The American organist and choral conductor, Michael S. Burnette, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Church Music - Organ summa cum laude from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey (1977-1981); and his Master of Music and DMA degrees in Organ Performance and Literature from Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York (1981-1990). He has studied with well-known organists David Craighead, Donald McDonald, Harald Vogel and Raymond Ocock.
Michael Burnette served congregations in California, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. In July 1999, he joined the staff of Christ & Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Westport, Connecticut. He leads a full-time music ministry consisting of a graded chorister program. leads a full-time music ministry of over 75 choristers (PreK-adult) in five vocal choirs. He is the founder and artistic director of Music & Arts at Christ & Holy Trinity, an annual series of concerts and liturgies that boasts an impressive roster of artists and ensembles, including Chanticleer, King's College Choir Cambridge, The Tallis Scholars, among others. Also an active and experienced choral singer as counter-tenor. He is a core member and frequent vocal soloist with the Pro Arte Singers (Director: Arthur Sjögren) and has performed both as a singer and organist in the USA, the UK and Europe.
Michael Burnette was appointed AAM’s Placement Advisor in 2009; in addition, he serves on the Executive Board of the Fairfield-West Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. |
