The Budapest Studio Choir (Hungarian: Budapesti Stúdió Kórus) was created in 1996 with amateur singers directed by the Liszt Prize-winner conductor Kálmán Strausz. Due to the recent radical reduction of staff in some vocal ensembles, and the growing number of prominent, professional and young career enthusiasts, the need for reconsidering the structure and functioning of the choir has arisen. At the same time, more and more calls were received from first-class orchestras and instrumental ensembles, renowned conductors, for vocal ensemble whose quality is guaranteed by the character of Kálmán Strausz. This is how the re-thinking of the Budapest Studio Choir has arisen, resulting in Hungary's first professional project choir.
Currently, 25 professional and 25 amateur singers are the base of the Budapest Studio Choir, and they can be expanded with 20-25 more vocalists. Each singer can enter into an individual audition that guarantees high artistic quality and, on the other hand, gives the director the abilty to create the most perfect sound in every production. The choir composition and the number of singerss are always adapted to the needs of the project to be performed. |
