The German soprano, Monika Brustmann, studied at the Hochschule für Musik München with Hertha Töpper and in the master-class of Ernst Haefliger. Subsequently, she was member of the Opernstudio of the Bayerischen Staatsoper. Then followed studies with Agnes Giebel, Elsa Cavelti und Professor Dietger Jacob.
As member of the Vereinigten Bühnen (united stages) of Krefeld and Mönchengladbach, as well as guest at the Oper Leipzig, Monika Brustmann sang roles as Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Johanna in Baal by Friedrich Cerha, Adele in Fledermaus, Gilda in Rigoletto, Adina in L'Elisir d'Amore, Pamina in Zauberflöte and many others.
Monika Brustmann has unfolded an active concert activity in the oratorio area and the Lieder interpretation, whereby her repertoire covers all epochs from the Medieval music to the modern times. So she can be frequently heard with the cycle Das Marienleben by Paul Hindemith, participated in Diario Polacco II by Luigi Nono under the direction of the composer and interpreted the premiere of the Blasons anatomique du corps féminine by William Killmayer
Monika Brustmann has participated in numerous music festival, among them: Internationales Festival für zeitgenössische Musik "Warschauer Herbst", Festival Barocco Viterbo, Settembre Musica Turin, Festival Perugia, Festival du musique contemporain Lille, Regensburger Domkonzerte, Salzburger Bachtage, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Festival Liturgica Jerusalem, Kissinger Sommer, Internationales Bodenseefestival, and Schubertiade Tamba International Music Festival Japan.
