Wilfred Brown (Tenor)

Born: 1921 (or 1922) - Horsham, England
Died: 1971

The English tenor, Wilfred Brown, studied at Collyer's School, Church Hospital in Horsham, Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, Trinity College of Music. He received M.A. from Cambridge University.

Wilfred Brown was Schoolmaster at Bedales, Hampshire, before devoting himself to music. He specialised in Oratorio and Folk Songs.

Wilfred Brown recorded, in 1963 with the English Chamber Orchestra conducted by Christopher Finzi, the definitive performance of Gerald Finzi's Dies Natalis Op 8, widely regarded as unsurpassed.(EMI). He also recorded (accompanied by John Willams, guitar) songs of Dowland, English folk songs etc.

Wilfred Brown was married with Mary Perris and had two daughters and two sons.
