The English bass-baritone, Peter Brooke, studied as a Choral Exhibitioner at Christ’s College, Cambridge and sang with the University Chamber Choir. He currently studies with Robert Dean.
Peter Brooke performs widely on the opera and concert stage. He has worked for a number of opera companies including Grange Park Opera, Iford Arts, Dartington Festival Opera, Opéra de Baugé, Regents Opera, Fulham Opera, Oxford Opera, Opera Vera, Woodhouse Opera and Hampstead Garden Opera. His recent and forthcoming roles include: Balstrode in Benjamin Britten's Peter Grimes (Dartington Festival Opera), Klingsor in R. Wagner's Parsifal (Elemental Opera), Figaro in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro (Regents Opera), Guiglielmo in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte (Opéra de Baugé), Marcello in G. Pucinni's La bohème (Opera Vera), Leporello in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni (Opera Vera), Fasolt in R. Wagner's Das Rheingold (Fulham Opera), Belcore in G. Donizetti's L' Elisir d'amore (Opéra de Baugé), Bottom in B. Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream (Opera Links), Teucer, Isménor in J.P. Rameau's Dardanus (Baroquestock), Giove in F. Cavalli's La Calisto (Hampstead Garden Opera), Don Fernando in L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio (Opéra de Baugé). He has sung in the chorus for Grange Park Opera (Eugene Onegin, Puritani).
Peter Brooke holds a position at the Guards' Chapel, Westminster. He is also a busy concert soloist in and around London. Recent oratorio roles comprise Orff's Carmina Burana, W.A. Mozart, Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Duruflé’s Requiems, J.S. Bach’s Passions, Haydn’s Creation, Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutches Requiem and Stanford's Songs of the Fleet for a variety of choral societies including the Bath Choral Society, the South West Festival Chorus and the Croydon Bach Choir. Peter has also given a number of lieder recitals including Robert Schumann's Dichterliebe and F. Schubert's Winterreise. |
