Christina Bristow (Soprano)

Born: Kankakee, Illinois, USA

The American soprano, Christina Bristow, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in in Vocal Performance and Music Education from California Baptist University in Riverside, magna cum laude (2005-2009); and her Master of Music degree and her Graduate Certificate in Vocal Arts/Opera from the University of Southern California (USC) Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles (Class of 2012). She is an award winner for the Metropolitan Opera Council auditions Western Finals, NATS-LA Young Artist of the Year 2014, NATS-AA competition semi-finalist, and scholarship recipient from the Colburn Foundation in Early Music Performance at USC. Christina Bristow's her most recent performances include soprano soloist in George Frideric Handel's Alexander's Feast, Sister Constance in Francis Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, Angel in Heinrich Schütz' Wiehnachts-Historie, Second Lady in W.A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at USC, Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir D’amore, Rosina in the Barber of Seville with OC Opera, “daughter” in Performance Riverside’s production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance, and Milly in Seven Brides For Seven Brothers where she received the Inland Empire Theatre League Award for Best Actress.

Christina Bristow is very active in singing for the Los Angeles area, including singing for the Los Angeles Master Chorale (LAMC) (since July 2013), Los Angeles Opera Chorus (since 2014), USC Baroque Sinfonia, Glendale City SDA Church and First Baptist Church of Glendale (Soprano Section Leader and Soloist: January 2010-August 2015). She could be seen in October 2016 as a soprano soloist for the Key Chorale of Sarasota's performance of Handel’s Alexander's Feast.

Guest appearances: LAMC Solo credits include: G.F. Handel's Messiah 2014, G.F. Handel's Alexander's Feast, John Rutter's Gloria, In the Bleak Midwinter, and Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms. Highlights of her musical career: G.F. Handel's Messiah with LAMC 2014, Sister Constance in F. Poulenc’s Dialogues of The Carmelites at USC, Adina in Donizetti's L'Elisir D'Amore, Soprano Soloist in Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb and Théodore Dubois' Seven Last Words of Christ, Johannes Brahms' A German Requiem, and featured soloist for USC's Baroque Sinfonia. Other highlights from her time with the LAMC include completing a successful summer Hollywood Bowl season with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Highlights included Felix Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream conducted by maestro Gustavo Dudamel and Verdi’s La Traviata. She also has had the opportunity to sing in her first feature film soundtrack, Pixels.

In addition to singing, Christina Bristow has served as Voice Instructor at Concordia University Irvine (since January 2017); Director of Music at Christ Lutheran Church of West Covina (since August 2017); Voice Instructor at California Baptist University (since September 2017); Associate Faculty Member at Irvine Valley College (since January 2018). Since 2016, she is also Visiting Professor of Music and Theatre at Providence Christian College. She currently lives in Azusa, California.
