The French soprano and mezzo-soprano, Chloè Briot, graduated from from the National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where she studied with Mireille Alcantra and Michelle Voisinet. She has become a Laureate of the 2014 HSBC Festival d'Aix-en-Provence Academy and was awarded the Prix du Jeune Espoir at the Concours International de Chant Lyrique de l’UFAM.
Chloé Briot has quickly come to the attention of the international press in performances as both Yniold / Pelléas et Mélisande and the title role of Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Philharmonia Orchestra (London). She has been described as “Gifted with certain magnetism” (ConcertoNet), and as “a great luxury” (The Times), "natural standout" (The Guardian) and "delightful" (Chicago Tribune). Recent successes include performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Esa-Pekka Salonen as Yniold in Pelléas et Mélisande and the title role in L’Enfant et les Sortilège which she then covered at the 2015 Glyndebourne Opera Festival and also sang in Paris conducted by Mikko Franck. She also achieved critical acclaim for Yniold in Emmanuelle Bastet’s new production of Pelléas et Mélisande at Angers Nantes Opéra. Summer 2016 saw her return to the Festival d’Aix en Provence to sing Yniold in their new production of Pelléas et Mélisande, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen and directed by Katie Mitchell.
Her repertoire encompasses both soprano and mezzo-soprano roles, including Mozartian roles such as Zerlina, Dorabella, Pappagena and both Susanna and Cherubino, French language roles such Stephano, Urbain, Cendrillon, Ascagne, Mélisande…
Additional highlights include a role debut as Oberto in Pierre Audi’s new production of George Frideric Handel's Alcina at Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie; Phi-Phi in Aspasie at Théâtre de L’Odéon Marseille; a debut as Papagena in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at Opéra Théâtre St-Etienne; Jano in Jenůfa at La Monnaie with Maestro Ludovic Morlot; Cupid in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld at Opéra de Marseille (December 2013-January 2014); Sémire in l’Amour and Polymnie in Les Boréades at the Opéra Royal de Versailles with Les Musiciens du Louvre under Marc Minkowski and Elisabeth in Philip Glass’ Les Enfants Terribles at Opéra National de Bordeaux.
Chloè Briot regularly appears on the concert stage performing a vast range of repertoire from Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem; Allegri’s Miserere and Haydn’s Harmoniemesse. She recently sang Felix Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Nights Dream wih the Orchestra National de Bordeaux and returns this season (2016-2017) season for Edgemont.
Highlights for the 2015-2016 season include Rosée du Soir in Le Roi Carotte at Opéra de Lyon; Yniold in Pelleas et Melisande for Opéra de Toulon and Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra; Miss Rose in Lakmé with Opéra d’Avignon and Le Songe d’une nuit d’ete with Orchestra National de Bordeaux. During the 2016/-2017 Chloè Briot will make her debut in Shanghai as Yniold and will create an opera called Little Nemo at the Angers-Nantes Opéra. She returns to the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France as Krista in the Makropoulos Case. Summer 2017 will see her create the title role of Pinnochio at the Festival d’Aix en Provence. |
