The American mezzo-soprano and music teacher, Christine Brett Ryan, studied at Kutztown Area Senior High School (Class of 1983). She obtained her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey (1987); her Master of Music Education degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida (1990); and her DMA in Music Education from Boston University (2008-2011). Her dissertation: "World Music Pedagogy in the American Middle School: A Comparison of Traditional and Indigenous Teaching of Andean Music.
Christine Brett Ryan has worked as Elementary music teacher at Hillsborough Public Schools, New Jersey (1987-1988); Elementary and secondary music teacher at Ewing Township Public Schools (1990-1993); Elementary music teacher at Hamburg Area School District, Pennsylvania (1993-1995); secondary music teacher, since 1996. She was a member of national development team and trainer National Board Professional Teaching Standards, San Antonio (2000-2003); Instructor of fine arts at Kutztown University, Pennsylvania, since 2004. In 2004, she was National board certified teacher. She has also been Conductor of Hamburg Community Children's Chorus (2000-2005) and of St. Johns UCC/Kutztown Handbell Choir (since 2003); and contributor to Music! Its Role In Our Lives (2004-2005).
Christine Brett Ryan is a member of Albany Township History Society (since 2001), a member of Pennsylvania Music Educators Associate, Music Educators National Conference. She currently lives in Lenhartsville, Pennsylvania, married Married Donald Lee Ryan on August 4, 1990 and has 2 children: Cecily Anna, Michaela Brett. |
