The American mezzo-soprano, Sarah Brauer, obtained her her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California (2003-2006; her Master of Music degree from Rice University (2006-2008); and her Doctorate of Music degre (DMA) in Vocal Performance from University of OregonUniversity of Oregon (2015-2019).
Sarah Brauer enjoys a varied career of opera, oratorio, choral and recital performance. She has appeared with the Santa Fe Opera, Santa Fe Symphony, New Mexico Philharmonic, Oregon Bach Festival, Houston Bach Society, Aspen Music Festival and the Salem Chamber Orchestra, among others. Recent solo engagements include mezzo soprano soloist for the concert-drama Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín with the University of New Mexico, created and conducted by Murry Sidlin, W.A. Mozart’s Requiem and J.S. Bach’s Magnificat (BWV 243) with the New Mexico Philharmonic, Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with the Santa Fe Symphony. In addition, she has been a professional singer in Santa Fe Desert Chorale (since 2009); and a member of Conspirare (since 2012). In March 2021, she sang with the University of Oregon Opera Ensemble the role of Ruggiero in selections from George Frideric Handel's Alcina.
Sarah Brauer has worked as Voice teacher at Rice University Preparatory Program (August 2006-May 2008); Administrative Assistant at Opera in the Heights (September 2007-March 2008); Instructor of Voice at Santa Fe University of Art and Design; Instructor at University of Oregon; Artistic consultant at Charlotte Master Chorale (since December 2019); Professional Actor (since November 2021). She currently lives in Eugene, Oregon. |
