The American tenor, choral conductor and music educator, John A. Bragle, obtained his Bachelor of Music Education degree in Choral Music Education cum laude from Michigan State University (1999-2004); his Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University (2010-2011); and his Doctor of Music degree in Music Education from Boston Universit (August 2017-September 2021; Dissertation: The role of social identity in the formation of biases toward career paths in music among adolescent musicians). He was recognized by the Music Education faculty with a departmental award for his scholarship and contributions to the community.
John Bragle served as Director of Choirs at the Williamston Community Schools (August 2005-August 2008); then Director of Choirs and Instructor of Voice at the Interlochen Center for the Arts and Camp (August 2008-June 2022). While at Interlochen, choirs under his direction performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Traverse Symphony Orchestra, and Interlochen’s World Youth Symphony Orchestra in venues such as Lincoln Center, DAR Constitution Hall, and Detroit’s Orchestra Hall. Since July 2022, he is the Director of Community Programs at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, where he supports teaching artists providing weekly music instruction to more than 12,000 students around southeast Wisconsin.
An active performer of a wide variety of repertoire in concert and recital, John Bragle has a particular passion for the music of J.S. Bach, German Lieder, and the art songs of Gerald Finzi. He married Catherine Creighton on August 18, 2012, and they currently live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. |
