The Canadian tenor, Jeffrey M. Boyd, received his Bachelor of Music degrre in performance from McGill University and his Master of Music degrere in voice from the University of Western Ontario. He featured in many productions during his studies including Ravel's L'enfant et les Sortillèges and Offenbach's La Vie Parisienne.
Hailed as “exciting to watch … and a joy to hear” (Daphna Levit, Opera Canada) and a “stylish soloist” (Steve Smith, New York Times), Jeffery Boyd is equally at home on both concert and operatic stages. In the summer of 2011 Jeff made his Carnegie Hall debut with the Ottawa Bach Choir, a group with which he regularly performs as soloist and member. In a recent concert of Heinrich Schütz's Weihnachts-Historie with that group “tenor Jeffrey Boyd was solid and expressive in the gruelling role of the Evangelist.”(Richard Todd, Ottawa Citizen) Boyd has also featured with Ottawa's Cantata Singers in their recent concert of Haydn's Stabat Mater and with Niagara's Choralis Camerata in George Frideric Handel's Messiah.
Recent roles include Tamino in Opera Kitchener's production of W.A. Mozart's Magic Flute, and Hoffmann in Halifax Summer Opera Workshop's Tales of Hoffmann. Jeffery Boyd has worked in the choruses of the Canadian Opera Company (Aida),Toronto's Opera Atelier (W.A. Mozart's Clemenza di Tito), and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra (J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio, BWV 248), Tannhauser). Recently he performed the role of Gastone with Pelligrini Opera in their April production of La Traviata. He next performs the role of Ferrando with Ottawa's Capital City Opera in W.A. Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte in September 2012 at the Mayfair. |
