Antonia Bourvé (Soprano)

Born: Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The German soprano, Antonia Bourvé, studied opera and Lieder at the University of Music in Karlsruhe with Stephan Kohlenberg and Felicitas Strack. During this time she took part in master-classes with Brigitte Fassbaender, Hilde Zadek and Anna Reynolds. She finished her studies 2006 with honors and is currently in the lieder master-class of Mitsuko Shirai and Hartmut Höll. In 2005 she was awarded a scholarship by the Richard Wagner Association, and in 2006 was the 1st prize winner in the Kulturfonds Baden opera competition. As finalist in the 2007 National German Music Competition, Berlin, she received a scholarship and was included in the young artists list.

Already during her studies, Antonia Bourvé appeared as Pamina in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and as Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte. In 2004 she made her debut in the Herbert von Karajan Pfingstfestspiele in Baden-Baden as Contessa Ceprano in Verdi’s Rigoletto under the direction of Thomas Hengelbrock - a production that was also recorded for television. In september of the same year she became member of the opera studio at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe where she appeared in numerous productions including Hänsel and Gretel (Sandmännchen), Carmen (Frasquita) and in Walküre (Ortlinde). In 2006, she sang the title role in the Staatstheater Nuremberg`s production of W.A. Mozart's Zaide.

As Lieder and concert singer, Antonia Bourvé has made numerous appearances, including the Händel festival Karlsruhe, the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele and the Festival Gaude Mater (Poland).

In 2006 she appeared under the direction of Nicol Matt in CD recordings of W.A. Mozart's Schauspieldirektor and W.A. Mozart's concert arias. A further CD production, Oratorio de Noël by Camille Saint-Saëns, which was highly praised by the press, emerged on the Carus label under the direction of Holger Speck with the Vocalensemble Rastatt and Les Favorites Barockorchester. Recent recordings include the Welsh and Scottish songs of L.v. Beethoven and Johannes Brahms’ songs on the Dutch Label Brilliant Classics.
