The Hungarian mezzo-soprano, Jutta Bokor, graduated in 1983 from the Academy of Music opera faculty as a student of Márta Ónódy.
Since 1983, Jutta Bokor was engaged at the Hungarian State Opera, where she performed the bio mezzo roles, including Mozart, Verdi, Georges Bizet and Offenbach. She is also a sought-after oratorio singer, concerts and can be heard in recordings on both voices. Since 1985 she has sung Zerlina at the Wiener Volksoper and Montreal, and in Prague – Carmen, Amneris and Laura. In 1994, at the Berliner Capellában, she performed Felix Mendelssohn's oratorio Elijah. In 1998, she was the Hungarian representative in a concert organised by the Polish Radio in memory of Lutoslawski at "Peoples along the Danube Festival". In 1999, she sang in Zagreb Octavian in Rosenkavalier and J.S. Bach's Easter Oratorio (BWV 249), of which a TV-recording was made. In 2008, she celebrated 25 years at the Hungarian State Opera by performing Madame Butterfly.
Jutta Bokor’s openness is evident not only in the diversity of her roles, but also in her interest in other cultural areas, such as radio broadcasting management and leading of master-classes. Her Awards include: Singer of the World II Award (1985, Wales), Award of the Municipality of Budapest to artist, who is active citizen of the city, for her contribution to the growth of the capital's cultural and artistic life by the outstanding musical art her work, (November 19, 2008). |
