The American soprano, obtained her Bachelor's degree in German Language and Literature from Oberlin College (1972-1976).
After her studies, Louise Bloomfield pursued a career in trade and educational reference publishing, in London and then in New York, where her first job was helping to edit The New Grove Dictionary of American Music. She has workes as Executive Editor at P F Collier / Atlas Editions (1991-1998); Executive Editor at Collier's Encyclopedia (July 1990-August 1998); Manager, Editorial Services at Wolters Kluwer Law & Business / Aspen Publishers (September 1998-February 2000); Assoc. Publisher at Facts On File News Services, a division of World Almanac Education Group (February 2000-August 2007); Publisher, News Svcs; DIrector Online Professional Dev't & Training at Facts On File, Inc. (since August 2007).
Louise Bloomfield is a passionate choral singer. She has performed with the Juilliard Choral Union (Director: Judith Clurman). She is a longtime devotée of Gustav Mahler’s music. Her father, Theodore Bloomfield, conducted Clinton Carpenter’s realization of G. Mahler’s Symphony No. 10 at the 1986 Utrecht Mahler Tenth festival and symposium, and wrote “In Search of Mahler’s Tenth: The Four Performing Versions as Seen by a Conductor” (The Musical Quarterly 74 (1990). As a choral singer, she participated in the Colorado MahlerFest performances of G. Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 in 2009. During the Colorado MahlerFest XXX Symposium, she assisted Jerry Bruck, her husband. |
