The Canadian soprano and choral conductor, Emily Bird, obtained her Bachelor of Music with Honors specialization in Music Education degree from the University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario, Canada (2010-2014) and has completed her Level 1 Kodály certification; She obtained her Masters of Sacred Music degree in Voice Performance from University of Notre Dame (2018-2020).
Prior to graduate studies, Emily Bird worked as a choir director and arts administrator for several children’s choir programs in the Greater Toronto Area, including the Toronto Children’s Chorus, the Bach Children’s Chorus (September 2017-May 2018), and the Canadian Children’s Opera Company (Choir Coordinator: June 2014-December 2015). In January 2016, she started the Cantiamo program at the Mississauga Children’s Choir, a weekly music and movement class for children ages four and five (January 2016-May 2018). In 2017, she started the Mississauga Children’s Choir’s second location in Port Credit, Ontario where she ran choirs for children ages four through ten. She was the soprano soloist/section lead at Royal York Road United Church in Etobicoke (February 2015-June 2018), and from 2017 to 2018 was the director of their Junior Choir. She was Former General Manager at Cor Unum Ensemble (August 2017-June 2018). Also in 2017-2018, she was a member of the Schola Cantorum at St. Basil’s Catholic Parish, in downtown Toronto. While at Notre Dame, she served as a director with the Notre Dame Children’s Choir, teaching their youngest choristers (August 2018-May 2020). Currently, she is the Associate Artistic Director of the Fort Wayne Children’ Choir (since July 2020). She currently lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA |
