The Puerto Rican baritone, Jorge-Philippe Belonni-Rosario, obtained his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2012-2015). While being there he portraied many different roles. In November 2014 he performed the role of Dulcamara in the opera L'Elisir d'Amore for the Lyric Theatre @ Illinois. Before that in 2013 he performed the role of Pistola in Verdi's Falstaff, in a production of the University of Illinois Opera, and in 2012 as El Capitan in Daniel Catán's Florencia en el Amazonas also a production of the University of Illinois Opera. For the Summer of 2015, he was accepted to the prestigious Castleton Festival founded by the late virtuoso violinist, conductor and composer Lorin Maazel. He took part of the Castleton Artists Training Seminar (C.A.T.S. Program), which included weekly voice lessons, French and German lessons, career preparation, Alexander's Technique, stage combat and many performing opportunities.
Jorge Belonni currently lives in Houston, Texas, where he is a member of Bach Society Houston (Director: Rick Erickson) and Outreach Specialist at Houston Grand Opera. |
