Ther Italian mezzo-soprano, Martina Belli, studied at Liceo Classico-Scientifico "Ariosto- Spallanzani" in Reggio Emilia, and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome (Class of 2008).
Martina Belli made her operatic debut as Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor in 2003. Her operatic engagements have included Second Maid in Elektra for Rome Opera, Third Lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in Viterbo, L’Humana fragilità and Melanto in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria in a tour including performances at Cîté de la musique, Paris, and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Maddalena in Rigoletto at the Concertgebouw, Smeton in Anna Bolena with Fabio Biondi and Europa Galante for the Reate Festival, Anassandro in Oracolo in Messenia in London and Japan with Fabio Biondi, Federica in Luisa Miller for the Teatro San Carlo, Naples, and Lola, Enrichetta in I puritani and Linetta in The Love for Three Oranges for the Teatro Comunale, Florence. She makes her Royal Opera Houise Covent Garden debut in the 2015-2016 Season as Lola in Cavalleria rusticana.
Belli sings regularly with the ensembles La Venexiana (Director: Claudio Cavina) and Europa Galante, and has appeared as a soloist in prestigious Baroque music festivals including Tage Alter Musik, Regensburg and Stuttgart Barock, and at the Bologna Festival and MITO SettembreMusica, Milan. She has appeared in concert in Bolzano, Trento and New York, and has recorded Antonio Caldara's oratorio Morte e sepoltura di Cristo for Glossa. She currently lives in Reggio Emilia and in 2012 got married. |
