The Dutch soprano, Paula Bär-Giese, soprano and pianist, studied at Hogeschool Den Haag (Class of 1986); Hogeschool Utrecht (1988-1990); and Schumann Academie in Utrecht (2006-2009). She studied both piano and singing and graduated with honour.
Paula Bär-Giese's voice is a brilliant lyrical soprano. Her singing repertoire is various: she sung a lot of operette in the "Franz Lehár-trio" but also sings opera, oratorio and is a dedicated interpreter of the French songs. With her partner, the lute-player and guitarist Hans Meijer, she found a new challenge in re-discovering, performing and recording Medieval and Renaissance music.
Paula Bär-Giese also plays a lot on historical pianos and other historical ancestors. She gives many concerts where she sings and at the same time accompanies herself at the piano-(forte). This is common use in pop-music, but not in the technical more challenging classical music. In this way she creats a perfect union between the singing and the accompaniment. She currently lives in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. |
