The German counter-tenor, Jürgen Banholzer, studied singing of German church music at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart, as a scholarship holder of study donation from the Deutschen Volkes Kirchenmusik. Later he extended his knowledge by study of organ concert playing at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon, and singing at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, as well as in courses with Michael Chance and Gérard Lesne.
Jürgen Banholzer’s repertoire includes Oratorios and Passions of J.S. Bach and George Frideric Handel, as well as numerous chamber-musical works of the 17th and 18th centuries. He is also to be heard in Lieder recitals with small chamber ensembles, as well as in opera productions (Ludwigsburger Schloßfestspiele, Wiener Festwochen, and Bayerische Staatsoper). Jürgen Banholzer has co-operated with distinguished Baroque ensembles (Concerto Köln, Freiburger Barockorchester, Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble, La Fenice, Clemencic Consort, Il Seminario Musicale) and sang in festivals in his homeland and abroad.
Jürgen Banholzer’s performances are documented on different radio, TV and CD productions. |
