The Kammerorchester des Symphonieorchesters des Bayerischen Rundfunks (= BRKO; Bavarian Radio Chamber Orchestra) was founded in 2000 and sees itself as a variable collective and virtuoso association that seeks to cultivate chamber music ensembles. Radoslaw Szulc took over the artistic direction as "primus inter pares". According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, "the ensemble proved to be first-rate from the beginning, with its own contours right away. One makes music as gracefully, with differentiated communication structures, as well as spontaneous musikantisch, places emphasis on rounding of the sound and realizes the desired ideal through the highest playful precision." The BRKO is in the European music metropolises and at international festivals as a guest, already played in numerous Television productions and recorded several CD's, including works for string orchestra by Tchaikovsky.
A striking feature of the BRKO is the homogeneous and warm string sound. The ensemble works closely with pianist Hélène Grimaud and violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann. The Deutsche Grammophon label released W.A. Mozart's Piano Concertos F major KV 459 and A major KV 488 with Hélène Grimaud and reached # 1 on the Classic Charts in America. For Deutsche Grammophon, the BRKO also recorded J.S. Bach's Concertos with violinist Lisa Batiashvili. The BRKO also performs with internationally renowned soloists such as Lang Lang, Julia Fischer, Mischa Maisky, Sabine Meyer, Pinchas Zukerman, Diana Damrau, Igor Levit, Vadim Repin, Janine Jansen and Maxim Vengerov. |
