Den Haag Baroque Orchestra (Baroque Orchestra)

Founded: 1998 - Den Haag, Holland

Founded in 1998, the Den Haag Baroque Orchestra (= BODH, DHBO) is composed by professional young musicians from Australia, Brazil, Chile, Finland, Israel, Italy, Japan Russia, Switzerland and USA, all with common musical background in the Netherlands. The members of this international Orchestra, studied with the most prominent personalities in the early music movement in Europe, such as Ku Ebbinge, Barthold Kuijken, Sigiswald Kuijken, Wieland Kuijken, Jacques Ogg, Ryo Terakado and Margaret Urquhart among others.

All the musicians of the Den Haag Baroque Orchestra started their musical career in the most renowned baroque ensembles in Europe, such as La Petite Bande, Anima Aeterna, Orchestra of the 18th Century, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Freiburger Barockorchester, Orquestre des Champs Elysees, Les Arts Florissants, and decided to come together under the initiative of the harpsichordist Alessandro Santoro, and the musical leadership of the violinist Luis Otavio Santos, currently one of the Concert Masters of La Petite Bande and professor for baroque violin at the Conservatoire Royal of Brussels, Belgium.

Den Haag Baroque Orchestra already recorded two CD’s: The first one in 1998 with works of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (Magnificat & Symphony) and in 2001 Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by J.S. Bach.
