The French baritone, Alexandre Artemenko, began music in 1991 and continued his violin studies until the end of his adolescence. Simultaneously, the practice of the theater reveals to him with passion the universe of the acting and the stage. It was then quite naturally that he came to choral and lyrical singing and quickly decided to devote himself to it professionally. He was received in 2006 at the Conservatoire de Paris, within the Jeune Choeur de Paris founded by Laurence Equilbey, which became the Département Supérieur pour Jeunes Chanteurs (DSJC) Département Supérieur pour Jeunes Chanteurs (DSJC). The practice of the choir allowed him to work under the direction of conductors like Laurence Equilbey, Geoffroy Jourdain, Olivier Bardot, Henri Chalet, John Nelson, Philippe Herreweghe or René Jacobs. He also sang as a soloist for the Jeune Choeur de Paris at the Chapelle Royale de Versailles, at the Auditorium du Musée d’Orsay and at the Oratoire du Louvre. Leaving the Conservatoire with a special mention of excellence and the unanimous congratulations of the jury, he had the pleasure of making his professional debut in the role of Papageno in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with the Fabrique Opéra de Marseille. He then perfected his lyrical practice in master-classes with singers such as Udo Reinemann, Laurent Naouri and Gabriel Bacquier. Today he continues to enrich his vocal mastery with Christine Schweitzer and Jean-Pierre Furlan.
In 2013, Alexandre Artemenko joined the studio of young professional soloists of the Compagnie Lyrique Opera Fuoco (2013-2016) created and directed by David Stern. There he nourished and enriched his repertoire as an opera singer by performing solo roles in numerous productions such as: Guglielmo in Nicolas Bacri's Cosi Fanciulli and Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Fred and Petruchio in Kiss me Kate () by Cole Porter at the Mona Bismarck American Center in Paris, Laurindo in Georg Philipp Telemann's Damon at the Magdeburg Opera and Pinkhes in The Golden Bride by Joseph Rumshinsky at the Örebro Concert Hall (Sweden).
His roles and engagements allow him to tackle a wide lyrical and choral repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary, including opera-bouffe. He thus participates as a guest artist in the Musica Nigella festival, or even in the first and second Shanghai Baroque Music Festival which present Achilla in Giulio Cesare (), then Melisso in Alcina by George Frideric Handel under the musical direction of David Stern in Shanghai. Symphony Hall (China). He performed in France and abroad with the ensemble Les Cris de Paris, directed by Geoffroy Jourdain (Festival International d’Opéra Baroque et Romantique de Beaune, Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, Opéra de Reims, Festival de Musique de la Chaise-Dieu, Festival Cervantino de Guanajuato in Mexico, Festival des Abbayes de Lorraine, Théâtre de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines) in works such as: Israel in Egypt by G.F. Handel, the a capella choir project Traverses or even the cycle of three cantatas by Pierre-Yves Macé entitled Jardins partagés. He also worked with the Studio de l'Opéra de Lyon on the creation of the opera Steve V composed by Roland Auzet, performed at the Théâtre de la Renaissance in Oullins (Grand-Lyon). He interpreted the role of Monsieur Choufleuri in the eponymous operetta by Jacques Offenbach at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth of Belgium. The show travelled from Etretat to Kazakhstan via the Monte-Carlo Opera. He also performed for the Winterreise company directed by Olivier Dhénin in La chute de la maison Usher (Roderick Usher) by Claude Debussy as well as Méphisto in Lili Boulanger's Faust et Hélène at the Gustave Moreau and Jean-Jacques Henner Museums in Paris.
In 2021, Alexandre Artemenko performed for the Ensemble Sequentiae the role of Elias in the eponymous oratorio by Felix Mendelssohn, conducted by Mathieu Bonnin (Eglise de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Basilique Sainte Clothilde in Paris, Basilique Saint-Julien in Tours). Previously he also sang W.A. Mozart's Great Mass in C as a soloist with this same ensemble. He also toured South Korea to sing the role of Maître Thénardier in Claude-Michel Schönberg's musical Les Misérables, with the Artel Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Hyuck Jin Yun. In October 2021, he sang the solo parts and choirs of Nelson Mass by Haydn and W.A. Mozart's Vesperae solennes de confessore with the Ensemble Sequentiae. In November 2021, he again performed the lead role of Roderick Usher in Claude Debussy's fantastic opera La chute de la maison Usher at the Jean-Jacques Henner Museum in Paris, with the Winterreise company. He also resumed in December with Les Cris de Paris the cycle of three cantatas by Pierre-Yves Macé, Shared Gardens at the theater of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines then at the Auditorium du Louvre. He can also be heard with the Ensemble Sequentiae in G.F. Handel's Dixit Dominus and Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël.
In 2022, he sings the role of Escamillo in Georges Bizet's opera Carmen at the Théâtre des Franciscains de Béziers with the Ensemble Sequentiae under the direction of Mathieu Bonnin. He will resume this role in May 2023, at the Amphithéâtre Zinga Zanga in Béziers. He also performed W.A. Mozart's Requiem and the role of Aeneas in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas in the frame of the Festival d’Été Musica Le Mans or for the Choeur Solaré in Rueil-Malmaison under the direction of Xavier Stouff. He also successfully took on the role of Roderick Usher in the Cie Winterreise as part of the Festival Les In-temps-les in Argenton-sur-Creuse, supported by France Musique. In January 2023, he will play the role of Guglielmo from W.A. Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte in a version for string quartet and soloist (artist in residence). A revival of La Chute de la Maison Usher by Claude Debussy is also scheduled for winter 2023 at the Cinéma l’Arlequin in Paris. |
