Anthémis is a play on words that crisscrosses the name of a musical form, the anthem (Old English "anteifn" form of Anglican church music, free paraphrase of biblical texts), a choral interspersed with solo passages, vocal or instrumental, with the name of a herbaceous plant, chamomile, producing small flowers similar to daisies.
Ensemble Anthémis was founded in June 2007 around a theme of Western sacred music. The ensemble was then called "Anthem". Convened by Pierre Verrier and Adrian Brand, this chamber ensemble distinguishes itself from its competitors by its lightness (6 instrumentalists only) and autonomy (no conductor). Guided by his first violin founder, Anthémis has a flexible to play any work while radiating a decent sound spectrum of the most consistent traditional training.
Ensemble Anthémis sounds like a real orchestra with choir and soloists. The oboe and flute employed when necessary round the majestic strings, and 4 singers carry their voice without unnecessary effort. The musical investment of each and pooling of energies, creates a whole concert of great artistic and spontaneous freshness. |
