The American soprano, Nancy Amini Mariella, is a honour graduate of the Indiana University School of Music. As a student, she was a National Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera auditions of the Air. After leaving the university, she studied in Germany and recorded Bach Cantata BWV 21 with Helmuth Rilling.
Nancy Amini considers herself privileged to have performed opera and oratorio as well as song repertoire in performances in the USA and Germany. She performed many opera roles with various regional companies - most notably Violetta in La Traviata with the Virginia Opera Association and Cio-Cio San with Peoria Civic Opera. Locally, she performed the role of Magda in Berkeley Opera's La Rondine. She appeared as soprano soloist with the Louisville Orchestra under Maestro Jorge Mester, she performed Bachianas Brasileiras with the Oaklnd-East Bay Youth Orchestra under Michael Morgan and most recently, Canteloube "Songs from the Auvergne" with Harvey Benstein and the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra.
As an experienced teacher, Nancy Amini presented a master-class and recital for the California Music Teachers' Association State Convention in 1995 and serves as an adjudicator for various vocal competitions. She is an active musician, pianist, and mother of two daughters. |
