The Ukrainian-Israeli soprano and music pedagogue, Ella Akritova, was a distinguished singer, soloist of the Kiev State Opera and for many years Professor of the Kiev State Conservatory. She excelled as lyric soprano in W.A. Mozart roles. Later, she immigrated to Israel, where she continued teaching. Among her students: tenor Edgar Bastidas (1991), pianist, violinist and singer Alina Raskin, soprano Svetlana Kundish.
