Yosemeh Adjei (Counter-tenor)

Born: Germany

The German counter-tenor, Yosemeh Adjei, was already making record and TV recordings and undertaking concert tours at the age of 10, as a member of the Windsbacher Knabenchor. In 2002, after studying the trumpet with Professor Reinhold Friedrich, he took up vocal studies at the Cologne Music College under Kai Wessel and shifted the entire focus of his musical attention onto singing. He gained further musical impulses from Charles Brett, Ms von Gartschinsky, Andreas Scholl and Thomas Quasthoff, amongst others.

Yoesmeh Adjei made his concert debut as an alto with the Musica Antiqua Köln under Reinhard Goebel. Since then, he has been celebrated at the major international music festivals for his interpretations of Baroque music and classical mezzo-soprano roles from Rossini to W.A. Mozart. In 2005 he was to be heard for the first time at the Händel Festival in Halle - in George Frideric Handel’s opera Athalia with la Stagione Frankfurt - as well as at the Tage Alter Musik in Herne.
