The Mexican soprano, Carla Acosta Villavicencio, graduated in music with a specialty in singing from the Conservatorio de la Rosas in the city of Morelia, under the direction of teacher María Guadalupe Góngora and Thusnelda Nieto. She later entered the Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia di Roma, Italy where she completed postgraduate studies. In 2010 she obtained a scholarship to the Accademia di Alto Perfezionamento per Cantante Lirici of the Puccinano repertoire, under the tutelage of Lucetta Bizzi, Luigi Roni and Vivien Hewitt, and also expanded her training with singing classes and singing pedagogy with the Austrian soprano and pedagogue, Eva Klietman-Bartfai. She has attended master-classes with Francisco Araiza, Taemi Kohama, Renata Scotto and Renée Fleming.
Carla Acosta has performed in different venues such as the Festival Internacional de Música de Morelia, Festival Internacional de Música Contemporánea de Morelia, Festival Pucciniano de Torre del Lago Puccini; she has made concert tours through the states of Oregon, Washington and Nebraska (USA). Her repertoire ranges from Baroque oratorio and opera, Italian opera, chamber music and 20th century music. She has worked under the direction of Fernando Lozano, Rodrigo Macías, Valerio Galli, Karen E. Deal, Julio Estrada, Ludwig Carrasco, Alberto Veronesi, among others.
Carla Acosta is currently director of the Escuela de Música del Estado de Baja California Sur. She currently lives in La Paz, Baja California Sur. |
