The Amsterdam Chamber Orchestra (= ACO) is a semi-professional orchestra, founded in 2000 for the purpose of performing a joint concert with the Bombay Chamber Orchestra. The members of the orchestra already played together for many years in different chamber music settings. Some played in orchestras like the Radio Kamer Orkest (Radio Chamber Orchestra) and the Amsterdam Bach Consort. After the concert in Bombay the players decided to continue as a chamber orchestra for special purposes. These purposes may vary from reinforcing other orchestras with qualified musicians to accompanying choirs and talented soloists, playing with talented conductors and teaching (instrumental or chamber music lessons). Members of the orchestra also play together in smaller chamber music compositions like quartets, quintets and so on. Several members are working as a professional music teacher. |
